Dead Rising 4: Personal Mysteries Locations | Collectibles Guide

Part collectible and part side-quest, ‘Personal Mysteries’ a small text-only side-stories available for Frank West to piece together while exploring the devastated town of Willamette in Dead Rising 4. Personal Mysteries come in small series of about 4-6 entries, and finding them all will net you a big PP reward.

Whether you want the PP or you’re working toward 100% completion, we’ll provide easy locations for every mystery. Below, the mysteries are broken up into different series, with locations for each individual cell phone. If you’re having trouble finding them, pop out Frank West’s camera and switch to the different viewfinder modes — they just might help point out those easy-to-miss phones in the environment.

Personal Mysteries are side-quest collectibles. Look for a glowing cell phone in the environment to unlock new entries. Finding all entries will reward Frank West with a PP bonus. You can purchase waypoints for all cell phones in an area from the Locations Vendor in the Emergency Shelter.

  • Text Exchange: Willamette Memorial Megaplex – Inside Robsaka Digital, on a product shelf.
  • Audio Log: Willamette Memorial Megaplex – Found in the Foro-4 Electronics near the north exit to the Amazon Food Court.
  • Audio Log #2: Willamette Memorial Megaplex – Found behind the tall temple prop structure, beneath the railing near Benny Jack’s BBQ Shack in the Amazon Food Court.

  • Incident Report: Willamette Memorial Megaplex – At the stool seating next to Raj’s Samosa Hut in the Amazon Food Court area.
  • Incident Report #2: Willamette Memorial Megaplex – This is one of the trickiest collectibles in the game to collect. Find it on the rooftop of Burger Fiefdom in Medieval Town. To get it, climb up the path from the Bratwurst store and circle around to reach the rafters. Jump to the left corner of the rafters and exit the broken window to find this phone.

  • Frank West: North Peak – Under the metal watchtower next to the west entrance into Willamette Army Reserve base.

  • Test Message #2: Old Town – In the McKenzie Auto Repair front desk, the auto-repair garage that’s inside the Willamette Impound and Junkyard.
  • E-mail: Willamette Memorial Megaplex – Found in the makeshift barricade with beds under the escalators at the north entrance into Medieval Town.

• Obscuris Research Logs
  • Recording #1: North Peak – Found in the eastern checkpoint guard booth.
  • Recording #2: North Peak – Inside the Willamette Army Reserve base, after crossing the bridge inside, look for an observation room with a window looking over the jet engine fire-spewing chamber.
  • Recording #3: North Peak – Found after leaving the investigation room. Continue down the stairs and in the first dark room, find the phone near the exit door.

• Deserters
  • Audio Log: North Peak – On the warehouse rooftop near the final convoy crash site just outside the train tracks. This is the area where you find the Obscuris researcher in a hazmat suit.
  • E-mail: North Peak – In the Peaks Motel. Search the second floor hotel room to the left of the stairs.
  • Abandoned Phone: North Peak – On a shelf in the center of the McKenzie Motors & Auto-Repair garage.
  • Audio Log #2: North Peak – In the first under-construction building you’ll enter to reach Tom in Case 5. Fight through the Evolved and as you reach the third floor, right before getting the Exo Suit, find this phone on a dead body to the left of the top of the stairs.

• Mad Tom
  • Audio: West Ridge – In Tom’s bedroom, on the second floor of the house on Tom’s Compound. Only available on Case 5.

• The Deep
  • Flip Phone: North Peak – Found in the dark, dark chamber where Frank encounters sleeping Evolved during the events of Case 5.
  • Flip Phone #2: North Peak – Entering the underground, in the first room past the locked gate Frank West uses the explosives to open, look for an open door on the right. There’s a Technician’s Key and a cell phone inside.
  • Flip Phone #3: North Peak – Encountering the room with the hanging Obscuris Soldier corpses, use the Technician’s Key to unlock the door. The cell phone is on the crate at the back of the dark room.
    • The key to the door is found in the same room as Flip Phone #2.

• Letters to Santa
  • Letter: North Peak – In the room with the burning Christmas decorations, right past the sleeping Evolved in the underground.
  • Letter #2: Willamette Memorial Megaplex – On the floor of the candy cane house in Central Plaza.
  • Letter #3: Willamette Memorial Megaplex – On the second floor of the Central Plaza, look in the sled prop near the doors to the skywalk.
