There are a lot of resources in Hades 2, and many of them don’t become available until later in the game. These resources unlock all kinds of interesting new features, and whilst this does inherently increase the game’s grind, the rewards are well worth it.
Moon Dust appears fairly late in your playthrough, but it is also one of the most important. In this guide, we are going to break down what Moondust is, why you want a lot of it, and more importantly, how you can get your hands on it. Let’s jump into the underworld once again.
Note: Do be aware that Hades 2 is still in Early Access, so anything and everything is subject to change.

What Is Moon Dust?
Moon Dust is a rare and expensive resource used in the enhancement of your Arcana. Arcana are those cards you unlock at the Altar Of Ashes (feel free to check out our full guide on Arcana). There are a lot of Arcana, and each one can be upgraded multiple times. What does this mean? It means you are going to need a lot of Moon Dust.
More than you might think as well, since most Arcana require a minimum of 3 Moon Dust to unlock, and skyrocket to the double digits for more powerful cards. Many Arcana require other supplementary materials as well – such as Boss Rewards – so get ready to do a whole lotta grinding.
How To Get Moon Dust In Hades 2
Knowing what Moon Dust is and what it does is only half of the battle – you still need to get your hands on the stuff. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to nab Moon Dust. Unfortunately, all of them are expensive or time-consuming. We did say this was a rare resource.
Wretched Broker
The Wretched Broker is one of the more immediate ways to get Moon Dust. He will have it on sale from the moment you unlock the resource, and it will set you back a whopping 800 Bones. This is incredibly expensive – and remains that way even after you’ve ‘completed’ the Early Access. You are going to have to save for this one.
Pier
During your playthrough, you will unlock the Pier. This allows Charon to smuggle rare resources to the Crossroads. There are two catches, however. Firstly, it will cost you 4 Obol Points (the equivalent of 4000 gold spent at Charon’s shop). Secondly, it will take 80 units of time before it arrives. That’s 80 rooms visited during runs. Ouch.
Fated List
Certain Minor Prophecies will reward you with vast amounts of Moon Dust. Always check on your progress between runs and aim to complete them in a timely manner. This is the most time-consuming method, but it’s also FREE.
Cauldron
Head to the Cauldron at the Crossroads and you can use the power of Alchemy to conjure Moon Dust. There are TWO recipes with one granting +3 Moon Dust, and the other granting +5. These are:
- Moonlit Essence From Shadow
- Moonlit Essence from Stars
These both take time to complete – like all Alchemy – so be sure to complete any Incantations before you start this process.
Charon
Finally, Moon Dust can be bought directly from Charon – however, he only sells it outside of the Chronos’s Boss Arena – aka, the final shop in the game. It will cost you around 800 gold (which is A LOT), and this will likely starve you of any late-game Boons, Poms, and Healing on offer.
Moon Dust is very awkward to get, however, with a bit of patience you will build up quite the stockpile. The benefits of upgrading your Arcana are vast. Who doesn’t want to revive 3-times per run?
That’s all we have on Hades 2 for now. Be sure to check out our other guides and content for more tips, tricks, and updates.
