In Hades 2, one of the characters you are always happy to see is Charon. The jolly boatman of the River Styx is just as peeved at Chronos as you are, and this is in no small part to hyperinflation. That’s right, Chronos went and turned everything to gold and opened the Gates Of Hell. Money is everywhere, it’s worth very little, and Charon is out of a job.
Thankfully, Charon is your mate in this and is happy to help. More so than when he was chilling with Melinoe’s brother, Zagreus. Charon has a shop in every region, vending machines strewn about, and even a secret river route to supply the Crossroads. That last one requires more than moolah to make use of, however.
Note: Do be aware that Hades 2 is still in Early Access, so anything and everything is subject to change.

How To Get Obol Points
Obol Points are, in short, reward vouchers. Little tickets you can exchange for rewards that increase in value based on how many Obol Points you spend at once. They are also pretty darn rare as you don’t find them anywhere. As far as we are aware, there is only one way to get Obol Points, and that is through Charon.
More specifically, if you want Obol Points, you need to line the Boatman’s pockets with a copious amount of gold. For every 1000 gold you spend at Charon’s shop, you gain an Obol Point in addition to the item you bought. 1000 gold is A LOT of gold – especially early on.
In fact, we rarely got that much in a single semi-successful run through the game. This is because the gold you receive in combat increases the further you are in any given run. Erebus might dish out a couple hundred, whilst Tartarus will likely dole out the full 1k stack by itself.
The better you become at Hades 2, the more Obol Points you are going to harvest per run. If you want to hasten this process, there are plenty of ways to increase your monetary gains. Arachne has a money-generating Weave, Hermes and Poseidon both have money-based Boons, and Charon’s Keepsake starts you off with a fat purse.
How To Use Obol Points In Hades 2
Once you have received your first Obol Point, Charon will set up a chest at the Pier in the Crossroads. You can find it right next to the Wretched Broker. Simply interact with the chest and you can place an order. Early on, you can smuggle in Ash, Psyche, and Fate Fabric, but as you progress, rarer items become available, such as Moon Dust. Of course, the rarer the Material, the more expensive it is.
Not only that, this system takes time. The rarer the material, the longer it takes to arrive. Basic Ash might only take 20 rooms (or a couple of baths), but Moon Dust? Be prepared to wait 60+ rooms before you even get a whiff of a return on your investment.
Despite the extreme cost and time involved when it comes to the Obol Points system, the rewards are well worth the effort. Any method to gain more Moon Dust is ok with us.
