Dragon’s Dogma 2: Best Items You Need To Get Early

March 22, 2024 by Kevin Thielenhaus

All the loot you’ll want to look for.

If you want to survive the grueling challenges of Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll want to stock up on items — and some of the best items in the game are literally waiting to be collected. Whether they’re healing items, valuable treasures, or items you just really need, we’ll list the items we think are most important for your early journey. And some of these items might still take 20 hours or more to find. Here’s what you need, and if they’re really rare, where to find them.

Best Items To Get Early

Greenwarish + Any Fruit: The most important and basic item in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Greenwarish grows basically everywhere in Vermund, so collect as much as you can. You can eat it directly for healing or combine it with any fruit items you find to create healing potions. Scavenge whenever you’re running around and you’ll have a huge stack of healing items — no need to waste cash.

Saurian Tails & Cinnamon Bark: And even better potions come from Saurian Tails and Cinnamon Bark. Get tails by chopping off the tails of Saurians or searching big lumps on the sides of trees. Tails combine with any Roborant healing item to create Exquisite Roborant, or even Miracle Roborant, while Cinnamon Bark makes Mighty Roborant. Both are exceptionally good healing items.

Jasper / Onyx / Tiger’s Eye: Always search for Jasper, Onyx and Tiger’s Eye jewels. These rare valuables are only useful for selling — but don’t just sell them to any vendor. For example, Onyx is rarely found in Vermund. Sell to any Vermund shop and you’ll get triple the standard selling price. You can find these valuables in dungeons, earn them from quests, or find them while exploring ruins.

Lantern Oil: Don’t throw away rotten food! If you have rotten fish, rotten plants, or rotten chunks of meat, you’ll want to keep them. Combining rotten food crates Lantern Oil, which is absolutely essential for exploration at night. You never want to run out of Lantern Oil.

Copper Ore / Silver Ore / Gold Ore: And more ores! These common ores are found in every underground cave dungeon — and you can find plenty spawning in Trevo Mine, one of the first major locations. While you can collect dozens of ore, you really won’t need much for enhancing. You can safely sell almost all of it as soon as you get it.

Wakestones & Dragon’s Eye: Go to the Vernworth Charnel House and collect three Wakestone Shards to create your first Wakestone. That’s one you can’t miss! These items allow you to revive yourself or any NPC after death. They’re incredibly valuable. Completing the main quests also unlocks an item called the Dragon’s Eye. Using this item reveals any nearby Wakestone Shards on your map. If you follow the secret path into Battahl west of Harve Village, you’ll reach a treasure chest in a hut containing one of those Dragon’s Eyes.

Portcrystal: One of the most useful items in Dragon’s Dogma 2, the Portcrystal is a portable fast-travel beacon you can place anywhere on the map. After placing it, you can even return and pick it back up again. Portcrystal are extremely rare, but you can earn one by completing a quest for the elf located near Roderick’s Smithy in the Capital city of Vernworth. Follow this quest chain and you’ll earn yourself a free Portcrystal.

Gold Trove Beetles: If you spot a gold glowing beetle in the world, don’t ignore it! These unique items increase your maximum carry weight permanently. It’s a small bonus, but those Gold Trove Beetles stack up. You can find dozens of these beetles while exploring and they’re commonly found at every point-of-interest.

That’s just the beginning. There are so many more weird items — potions that shrink people, arrows that kill anything instantly, and methods to freeze monsters into stone statues. We’ll talk about all of that and more in future guides. Watch this space in the future.
