There’s a game-breaking bug very early in the Lies of P. As identified by the developers, the game-breaking bug can occur in Chapter 2. This bug, if triggered, will completely halt all progress. The developers have already released a statement and promised a fix in the future. Until that patch is out, you’ll want to avoid this bug. Thankfully, it is pretty simple if you know how it works — but you’ll want to read this before reaching Chapter 2.
Chapter 2 is still very early in the game, so if you are caught by this bug, we recommend restarting from the beginning. You’ll need to clear the first boss, but this is a huge game with dozens of bosses, mini-bosses, and weird monsters to fight. At least this bug isn’t found at the very, very end of the story. We’re looking for any positives here. Learn more about the bug and how to avoid it below.

When Does The Game-Breaking Bug Occur?
The game-breaking, progression halting bug is triggered in Chapter 2.
- In Chapter 2, before defeating the Scrapped Watchman, a bug can trigger when exploring the locked room in Hotel Krat. This can occur even in Chapter 1 from reports of player problems online.
This problem also seems to persist in later stages of the game — your playable character will phase through gates or doors when interacting, even when they’re locked. Normally, these other instances of the same bug do not halt progression but interacting with the locked hotel doors does. Right now, there’s only one solution for this problem — you’ll need to avoid it.
How To Avoid The Game-Breaking Bug
To avoid the bug, you’ll need to avoid exploring the locked rooms in Hotel Krat until defeating the Scrapped Watchman boss.
- Don’t check the locked doors in Hotel Krat during Chapter 1 or Chapter 2. Wait until after defeating the Scrapped Watchman. After this boss is cleared, you should be able to freely explore Hotel Krat.
If you’ve been hit with this bug — which doesn’t affect all players, even if you’ve explored the hotel rooms — you may need to restart from the beginning. You can restart or you can wait for a patch — we haven’t been able to find any easy community fixes for this particular issue. The same problem does occur in later stages of the game where your character will phase through normally locked gates, but we haven’t seen reports (yet) of more progression blocking bugs. Here’s hoping the next patch addresses these problems so players don’t have to worry about being suddenly unable to play due to a weird bug.
