The first level of Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake sends Spongebob to one of his favorite frolicking grounds, but there’s a cosmic twist that changes everything. Wild West Jellyfish Fields is a vast desert playground where Spongebob will learn how to ride seahorses, drink soda at the saloon, and fight bandits on runaway trains. Getting all the doubloons in this stage takes a keen eye and a willingness to fully explore the mesa. There’s even an optional cemetery to explore with Undertaker Squidward. Like many levels, this one is relatively closed-off on your first visit. You won’t be able to get most doubloons until you return much later with new powers. Below, you’ll find locations for all the Doubloons.

Gold Doubloons are optional collectibles that unlock costume tiers from the shop. By collecting hidden Gold Doubloons, you’ll make more costumes available for purchase in the shop menu. Gold Doubloons are hidden through side-quests, in the environment, or by completing challenges. Some challenges can’t be completed until after returning to a level. If a lock icon appears over an element on the stage, you’ll need to return later after unlocking more abilities for Spongebob.
Gold Doubloon #1: Riding School – On the very top of Ms. Puff’s Riding School. Jump onto the roof and ride the platforms up to reach it.
Gold Doubloon #2: Manta Fe – In the town of Manta Fe, look to the left of the town entrance. There’s a bounce pad you can use to jump onto the rooftops. You need to cross the rooftops, using the floating crates to circle around and hit three hidden buttons. There is a button behind the sign on the rooftop of the Inn, the Jail and the Saloon. Smash the crates to reveal the button.
- Hit all three buttons and star platforms will appear in the sky above main street. Hop onto the platforms to grab this doubloon.
Gold Doubloon #3: Manta Fe – In the back-left of Manta Fe, to the left of the Jail, you’ll find a big button and four targets. Ground pound the button to activate a shooting minigame. You need to shoot bubbles at the targets — hit eight 8 targets before the 30 seconds are up to complete this challenge.
- Make sure to only shoot the targets! Don’t throw bubbles at the seahorse.
Gold Doubloon #4: Jellyfish Trail – Past the waterfall, you’ll reach an area outside the Riding School. On the right there are several platforms leading up to a large purple button. This is only available after learning the Karate Kick. Stomp it and use karate kicks on the balloons to fly through all the rings. Defeat the enemies at the end to earn this doubloon.
Gold Doubloon #5: Riding School – In the back-left of the school, find wooden boards leading to a purple button. This button can be ground-pounded after unlocking the ability to ride Bubble Surfboards. Ride the board through the fire rings to complete this challenge.
Gold Doubloon #6: Manta Fe – Use the slingshot on the raised platform in the back-left of town. You can bounce onto the Jail and glide to this platform. Launch to the Cemetery and talk to Squidward on the hill. Defeat all the jelly enemies under the time limit to make this doubloon spawn near Squidward.
Gold Doubloon #7: Riding School – Use the green seahorse to replay the riding course to Manta Fe. After the trains, jump the railing on the right to find this very tricky Gold Doubloon location.
Gold Doubloon #8: Cacteen Hills – At the entrance to Cacteen Hills, there’s a white bridge — a bridge you rode in on with a green seahorse. To the right of the bridge there’s a wooden platform. Stand on this platform and look down. It leads to another platform, and another even further with a slingshot. Use the slingshot to launch Spongebob to a combat arena under the giant jellyfish rock formation. Defeat all the enemies under the tight timelimit to complete the challenge.
Gold Doubloon #9: Sap The Gatherer – At the start of this checkpoint, follow the path until you reach two teetering wooden platforms with a rock landing between. On the landing, look left for a floating platform and a purple button. This button can be activated after unlocking the Bubble Surfboard technique. Ride the board and defeat enemies at each stop to earn a doubloon.
Gold Doubloon #10: Sap The Gatherer – Near the end of the first section, you’ll reach a tall landing before a series of spinning stars that lead to the falling puffer fish obstacle course. On the highest pillar, there’s a large red button. Once you unlock more powerful ground pounds from Level 5, you can activate this switch.
Gold Doubloon #11: Bullworm Mine – In the center of the massive chamber of the mines where you have to clean up trash, there’s a purple button that summons Bullworms. You need to defeat four Bullworms in two minutes. This is an extremely tight time limit. You’ll need to stomp the ground when they’re underground to make them vulnerable. You essentially have to be perfect — hit the Bullworm, wait for it to retreat and crawl toward you, stomp then attack. If you miss even once you’re risking failing this challenge.
