SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake – How To Find All Gold Doubloons | Pirate Goo Lagoon Guide

January 30, 2023 by Kevin Thielenhaus

X marks the spot.

Slap on an eyepatch and peg-leg, because we’re traveling to Pirate Goo Lagoon. In the third level of Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake, you’ll jump through docks and sinking ships to collect your lost treasure. The Flying Dutchman himself, the ghost pirate, needs Spongebob’s help collecting his stinky socks — and while you’re walking that plank, you can also collect all eight Gold Doubloons. You’ll find pictures and text descriptions for each collectible in this stage.

Gold Doubloons are optional collectibles that unlock costume tiers from the shop. By collecting hidden Gold Doubloons, you’ll make more costumes available for purchase in the shop menu. Gold Doubloons are hidden through side-quests, in the environment, or by completing challenges. Some challenges can’t be completed until after returning to a level. If a lock icon appears over an element on the stage, you’ll need to return later after unlocking more abilities for Spongebob.

Gold Doubloon #1: Scurvy Swamp – In the Scurvy Swamp, the area where you need to find 12 anchovies, take the right path from the start and keep going until you reach an island with jellies and a strongman jelly. On the right rock wall there’s a cave entrance blocked with stone tiki crates and explosive crates. Set off the crates and go inside — navigate the tricky platforming path and reach the end to collect a prize.

Gold Doubloon #2: Shipwreck Treasure – After launching yourself from the Mermaid side-quest area, Spongebob will progress to a shipwreck that teeters. To the left, there’s a wooden cage with floating tiki crates. If the shipwreck is teetered low enough, you can jump onto the floating tiki inside the cage. Make these tricky jumps to reach a doubloon.

Gold Doubloon #3: Port Jelly Royal – At the port town at the end of the level, reach the back-right of the town path. In the back-right, you can jump up the hill and on top a bounce pad to reach the rooftops. Use a floating tiki to cross the gap to the rooftops on the other side of town. While facing the entrance, there’s a Gold Doubloon on the house rooftop near the checkpoint.

Gold Doubloon #4: Port Jelly Royal – In the second part of the port town, the doubloon is on the left rooftop on the last house in town. To the right of that house, you can bounce up onto the rooftops and backtrack all the way backward, around, and then to the gold doubloon. You’ll need to carefully jump on tiki crates to reach it!

Gold Doubloon #5: Bongo Beach – Go to the back-left area and knock down the Lifeguard Tower leading to a series of bounce pads on rock pillars. Instead of going left, go right to a cage built into the ground. Unlock the super ground pound in Level 5 to smash through these barriers.

Gold Doubloon #6: Scurvy Swamp – Exiting the main section of Scurvy Swamp, go to the beach where the ships are docked. Go to the second ship — there’s a high ledge opposite the ship with a cage built into the ground. Super ground pound through the lock to earn this doubloon.

Gold Doubloon #7: Shipwreck Treasure – Directly to the right of the checkpoint. There’s a small sand island with a cage you can super ground pound through.

Gold Doubloon #8: Admiral Prawn – Located on a small island directly to the right of the slingshot. Hop across the wood platforms and slam through the metal cage to collect the doubloon.
