LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – How to Use ‘Child Flight’

April 12, 2022 by Peter Hunt Szpytek

“Master Skywalker, there are too many of them! What are we going to do?”

As speedrunning has gained more mainstream gaming popularity, players diving into new games are always keeping their eyes peeled for exploits that runners can use that can help reduce the time it takes to complete a game. Some games have bigger speedrunning scenes than others but LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga might find its speedrunning community growing thanks to one exploit: child flight.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – Child Flight Exploit

Child flight is a silly name for a pretty simple trick. Essentially, the exploit allows players to jump infinitely by taking advantage of children characters’ unkillable by friendly fire status. This can allow players to cross chasms and make jumps that were previously unmakable.

so, children. at least this child, don't take friendly fire damage, so i found my test dummy. also side note, you can use children to cross large pits and void space. im calling this Child Flight @ddx_exe pic.twitter.com/rkTzSQDNr9

Twitter user @RedOrbFragment discovered the exploit and tweeted a video of them doing it by playing as Qui Gon and in air grappling with Anakin from Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. This is done by doing upward attacks over and over keeping the player in the air since the child version of Anakin can’t be killed by friendly fire.

It’s still a bit early to know if any sort of major speedrunning scene will emerge as a result of the exploit, but it’s still funny to see and know that someone, somewhere will likely use child flight to find a secret Minikit or just skip a tedious section entirely by flying over it.
