10 Most Absurdly Powerful Magic Spells In Video Games

March 16, 2021 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Break your favorite video games in two with these ridiculously OP magic spells.

Divide + Critical Claim [Dragon Quest 11]

Critical Claim is one of the most useful skills in Dragon Quest 11. Using it allows a character (Erik) to score a guaranteed critical hit. It’s the perfect tool to instantly destroy Metal Slimes for huge EXP rewards. It can also deal huge damage to bosses — and you can make it even more powerful with Divide.

By using Divide on Erik, he’ll split into x3, performing whatever actions you take three times in a row. Combine Critical Claim and Divide to dish out truly absurd damage. Probably the weakest character in the game becomes the strongest with this simple special ability combo.

Nova + Biotic Charge [Mass Effect 3]

Mass Effect 3 makes the Vanguard Class absolutely godly thanks entirely to Biotic Charge. Once upgraded, Biotic Charge instantly refills your shields to full. That’s cool and all, but the real advantage is that the Nova power is finally useful — Nova is an area-of-effect attack that blasts everything in your immediate area like a magical nuke. In a game that’s all about long-range combat, it isn’t that great normally.

Biotic Charge makes it so much safer to use. Nova drains your shields to unleash a killer energy blast, then you can use Biotic Charge to refill. Even if you don’t use Nova, you can zip around with a Shotgun blasting everyone in the face with Biotic Charge — which launches you character directly at enemies. Nothing to fear when you can refill your shields on command.

That’s all our favorite magic attacks in video games! There’s a lot of game-breaking magic combos we didn’t get to put on this list — so share your favorite OP magic attacks. Maybe we’ll do another list in the future!
