Stealing And Saying Sorry [Spelunky 2]
One of the most dangerous things you can do in Spelunky 2 is kill a shopkeeper. These wily, shotgun-toting maniacs work together to take you down if you so much as scratch one of them. Each randomly-generated shop in this hair-pullingly difficult roguelike is packed with useful items that you probably won’t be able to afford. That’s why stealing is so enticing. If you kill a shopkeeper with a surprise bomb, you can take everything you want out of the shop and gain a free shotgun. The easiest way is to stand near a shopkeeper and throw a rope. This ejects the shopkeeper, and lets you grab the shotgun. Say bye-bye to the shopkeeper.
If you choose murder, then you’ll have to deal with shotgun-wielding shopkeepers waiting for you at the exit of every single level. There’s a better way. You can actually steal from shopkeepers and earn forgiveness — if you take an item from a shopkeeper and don’t hurt them at all, including the keepers waiting for you at level exits, they’ll actually forgive you and call an end to the hunt. But this is so ridiculously dangerous, most players won’t even attempt it.
Antiques Roadshow [Wasteland 3]
Bartering is a big deal in the post-apocalypse, and increasing your Barter skill to 7 in Wasteland 3 unlocks the games most coveted money-making ability — Antique Appraiser. Most players might only stumble into this skill accidentally and never even realize how powerful it truly is. There’s no better way to make cash in Wasteland 3 aside from downloading cheatengine.
Antiques Appraiser gives you a 5% chance to sell a junk item for 50x its normal worth. Sounds like pretty low chances right? Well there’s an easy way to increase your luck. After selling your junk to a vendor, just buy it all back and sell it again. Then buy it all back and sell it again. And again and again until you get a huge cash bonus. Who doesn’t love a little extra cash?
