10 Best Strategies, Tips & Tricks We Used In 2020

January 18, 2021 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Secret strategies, devious tricks, and powerful farming methods — these are our favorite game tips of 2020.

Hestu Is Bestu [Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity]

Who would’ve known? Hestu the maracas-slinging Korok from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has one of the most powerful attacks in the 2020 Musou sequel Hyrules Warriors: Age of Calamity. Hestu looks like a joke character from afar — a silly companion with weird attacks that’s completely optional to unlock. They’re a fan-favorite for their little dances in Breath of the Wild, but they can kick serious butt in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

By performing a very (very) specific button combo, Hestu will summon and launch a wave of bomber Koroks from the sky, dropping hard nuts as they swarm the enemy. Normally this attack does damage to multiple enemies in a large area, but by using a little-known technique Hestu can target a single big bad guy and just melt their HP bar. Hestu might not really be the best character in Hyrule Warriors, but their hilarious bomber attack and insane damage output (sometimes) makes them one of the most unique tricks in 2020.

Double, Triple, Quadruple Weapon XP [Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity]

Let’s talk about a trick that’s so simple, we’re kicking ourselves we didn’t think of it earlier. Maybe it’s the fact that most games absolutely don’t allow this sort of thing — but Hyrule Warriors totally allow this trick to happen. And we’re all luckier for it. Here’s the basics; every weapon has a random perk. One of those perks increases the amount of Weapon XP you’ll gain when fusing weapons at the blacksmith.

To give yourself insane weapon XP gain, all you have to do equip a weapon with the Weapon XP+ perk. If you equip a weapon with that perk, every single weapon you fuse will get the multiplied Weapon XP boost. Even better, if you get a second weapon with Weapon XP+ perk, you can boost that one separately up to a high level, then combine it with your primary weapon — which I remind you also has a Weapon XP+ perk. This is by far the easiest way to increase your weapons to max level. It doesn’t even take long in the endgame!
