Luigi’s Mansion 3: How To Beat Every Boss | Ghost Strategies Guide

November 6, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Stuck on a ghost boss in Luigi’s Mansion 3? Here’s how to beat every puzzling ectoplasmic encounter.

The King (6F Castle MacFrights)

This Royal Rumble pits you against an armored king. To smash his armor, wait for him to charge, then flash him with the Strobulb. Shoot his chest with a Suction Shot and smash him. It’ll take a total of nine smashes to finally destroy his armor.

He gallops around the ring of the coliseum, so stay in the center. After every three slams, he’ll drop a heart and summon more archers when he raises his sword. He starts with one, then three, and finally five. After slamming him three times, you’ll get a chance to fight him on-foot.

In his ghost form, the king is very weak. Just stay away when he performs his spin attack, wait for him to get dizzy, then hit him with the Strobulb and Ghost Slam him. After two rounds, he’ll be down.

The Gardener (7F Garden Suites)

With a potted plant protector, the Gardener is a tough opponent that can take your health down fast. Keep away, and take note of the saw blade in the arena. Don’t pick it up yet! Instead, nudge the growing plant pods (there are four) around the arena. Run to each one, and try to lure the Gardener’s plant to attack with a lunge. The lunge occurs after two attacks — a slam, and then a sweep.

If the lunge hits one of the plant pods, the venus flytrap will get stuck. Now you can grab the saw with Suction and chop the head off. When the plant is destroyed, you can attack the Gardener with the Strobulb and Ghost Slam him. Do it three times to defeat the boss.

The Director (8F Paranormal Productions)

This quick boss against a massive armored Godzilla ghost requires one trick — you need to blow instead of suck! Dodge the kaiju’s fireballs until it launches an energy ball that slowly tracks you. To damage the boss, you need to use the Blow ability to push the energy back into the boss.

In the second and third phase, you’ll need to start Blowing the energy ball back, then quickly summon a Gooigi to help. You’ll need that extra push energy. In the third phase, you’ll also have to tap [A] rapidly to destroy the suit and expose the ghost. When the ghost is exposed, all you have to do is use the Strobulb and Ghost Slam him.

Polterkitty

This furious feline boss is a surprise encounter that appears as you attempt to leave F8. It appears in three spots and tries to attack from behind. Don’t look at Polterkitty when you reveal its true form with the Strobulb — wait for it to very, very slowly creep up on you. When it finally rears back and reveals glowing bright claws, then you can turn around and use the Strobulb!

The Polterkitty retreats after each defeat. Use the Black-Light to follow it — it appears in these locations; Studio 3: Fire Set, Backstage, and then moves to 7F: Garden Suites. Go to the Blooming Suite, Blooming Bathroom, and finally the Ivy Bathroom.
