Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night – How To Play As Shovel Knight, Get Infinite Ammo & More | Secrets Guide

July 3, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Play as Shovel Knight, play a piano ‘Recital’ and get infinite ammo in Bloodstained as we explore even more secrets.

You might’ve heard, but Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is packed with secrets. There are so many, we couldn’t fit them all into a single article, so we’re diving back in to sift through the Easter eggs and hidden extras in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

As shown above, one of our favorite inclusions in the game is a nod to Shovel Knight, another Kickstarter indie darling with an old-school aesthetic. Shovel Knight isn’t just a random enemy — he’s actually playable, too! On top of that, you can acquire a Shovel-shaped pole-arm weapon for your main character. That’s a lot of weirdness to go around.

We’re talking about more than just Shovel Knight here. You can also find secret items to give you unlimited ammo, or play the piano and get lyrics over the main theme of the game.

How To Play As Shovel Knight, Get Infinite Ammo & More | Secrets Guide

There are lots and lots of secrets in Bloodstained, and here we’re going to cover some of the stuff we’ve missed in previous guides.

Play As Shovel Knight

Yes, you can play as the blue armor-clad Shovel Knight. The Shovel Armor is a special enemy that’s found all over the castle, but you can especially locate him in the underground caverns. He’s a direct reference to the game Shovel Knight, and if you manage to destroy him (and get lucky) you can collect the EX Shovel Armor Shard.

With the Shovel Demon Shard equipped, you’ll actually transform into the Shovel Knight enemy! You can shovel bad guys for a limited time — as long as you have energy. It’s not particularly useful, but you get to play as Shovel Knight so it’s worth it.

There’s only one other enemy you can play as with a shard — Lili, the bunny demon. Defeat Lili to get the Bunny Morphosis Shard — which isn’t a bunny at all, unless you’re a fan of Playboy.

Get Infinite Ammo With The Recycle Hat

If you’re willing to dig deep into the systems of the game, you can unlock a hat that grants your hero Infinite Ammo permanently. The Recycle Hat is the reward for completing all the Cooking Challenges. You’ll have to gather a whole lot of ingredients, but if you have the Recycle Hat equipped, you’ll never expend ammo.

Play A ‘Recital’ And Earn A Secret Achievement / Trophy

The secret ‘Recital’ achievement / trophy is a fun hidden gem you can earn for playing the piano. Travel down to the Garden of Silence and equip the Caraboose Familiar Shard. Go to the large piano chamber and play — if you have Caraboose summoned, she’ll sit on your shoulder and start singing!

This little secret adds lyrics to the game’s theme, and it’s a surprising little secret that’s very easy to miss.

We’re always looking for more secrets in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Check back soon and we’ll have more to share!
