Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night – How To Knock The Librarian Out Of His Chair | ‘Deja Vu’ Easter Egg Guide

July 2, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Knock the librarian out of his chair and earn an achievement / trophy, along with a pair of ridiculous glasses.

As if Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night wasn’t packed with enough Easter eggs already, now you can relive one of the best moments from Symphony of the Night and unlock a funny accessory in the process. To get the ‘Deja Vu’ achievement, you’ll need to knock the librarian out of his chair.

O.D. the Librarian is voiced by the same actor as Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It helps that he looks basically exactly the same as Alucard, and was a playable character in the prequel retro game Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon.

In the original Symphony of the Night, Alucard could leap up through a hole to blast the librarian character out of his chair. It’s a hilarious visual, and now you get to turn the tables on Alucard. Even better, you can even fight O.D. in Bloodstained, but doing that is a whole lot more complicated.

How To Knock The Librarian Out Of His Chair | ‘Deja Vu’ Easter Egg Guide

To relive a classic Easter egg from Symphony of the Night, you’ll need to get pretty far in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. You’ll need to unlock the Invert ability — which changes gravity, causing you to fall up instead of down.

The Librarian, named O.D. is located in the Livre Ex Machine. If you enter the tile below him, you’ll see a narrow slot you can fall through. It does nothing if you jump up through the slot — you have to fall through with the Invert ability.

  • How To Unlock Invert: To get the Invert movement upgrade, defeat the boss of the Inferno Cave.

Drop through this hole, knock O.D. out of his chair, and earn the ‘Deja Vu‘ achievement / trophy. When you invert again, you’ll return things to normal and find some treasure in the original room. You can get a pair of disguise glasses — seen worn by O.D. above — and a Macaroni & Cheese item in the two chests that have suddenly appeared.
