Rage 2: How To Get The BFG 9000 | Doom Easter Egg Guide

May 14, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

The ultimate DOOM weapon is available to collect in Rage 2 — and it’s just as powerful as before. Here’s how to claim it.

The biggest, baddest gun in the galaxy is available in Rage 2, and it’s only available in the Deluxe Edition of the game. This massive, ridiculously over-powered gun that was first introduced in the original Doom, one of the earliest popular FPS games — and it just keeps coming back. The BFG 9000 is a brick-shaped blaster, shooting a charged beam of green energy that evaporate everything on the screen.

Below, I’ll explain exactly how to claim the BFG 9000 in Rage 2. The process is slightly convoluted, and again, it’s only available to players that purchased the physical Deluxe Edition or the Digital Deluxe Edition. Either way, you’ll need to follow the steps below when you’re in-game. The BFG 9000 might be released as a standalone DLC later — but for now, it just isn’t available for free.

How To Get The BFG 9000 | Doom Easter Egg Guide

To get the BFG 9000 weapon and unlock it, you’ll first need to link your Bethesda.net Account. To do that, follow the instructions on the game’s main menu — if you don’t have an account, you can create one right here.

After claiming your BFG 9000 gift, turn off the game and let it update. Restart, and it will appear in the game world.

The BFG 9000 spawns in a large crater, north of Vineland. Vineland is the starting hub of the game. Drive north of Vineland, following the right and turn slightly right — up on the hill, you’ll be able to spot a large crater with several containers inside. That’s where you can find the BFG 9000.

The BFG 9000 is an incredibly powerful weapon that’s also super easy to miss. The game doesn’t tell you where to find it, and you can play the entire game without realizing the BFG 9000 is hidden where it’s hidden.

So, why is the BFG 9000 even in this game? Simple! Bethesda, the publisher of Rage 2, also published the most recent entry into the DOOM franchise. This is just a little bit of franchise cross-promotion, but if you’re going to thrown a crossover gun into a new game, this is the right weapon to pick.
