Mortal Kombat 11: How To Perform ‘Mercy’ Finishers | Double Hearts Guide

April 26, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

New to MK11, Mercy finishers are a secret finisher type you can use to truly taunt your opponents. Here’s how Mercy works — and everything you’ll get for using it.

Mercy Finishers are the opposite of this.

Want to really taunt your opponents in Mortal Kombat 11? You can give your enemies a second chance with the ‘Mercy’ finisher — and earn an extra Heart. Mercies are a new type of finisher in MK11. Instead of killing your enemy, you give them a little boost of health. They’ll recover, and get a second chance to take you down.

If you manage to win against AI (or anyone) after using a Mercy, you’ll earn a second heart. Hearts, as you’ll soon find out in the Krypt, are incredibly valuable. You’ll need 100 just to earn a simple chest, and 250 to open the bigger chests. Using Mercy finishers or Brutalities can change the number of fights you need from 100 to 50, or 250 to 125. It’s only slightly better, but 50% more efficiency ain’t bad.

Learn how to perform a Mercy in the quick guide below. They’re simple, straightforward, and every character can pull off this finisher. It’s exactly the same for everyone.

How To Perform ‘Mercy’ Finishers | Double Hearts Guide

Mercy finishers can be performed by any fighter. To use them, wait until the end of the battle — when you would normally perform a Fatality.

  • How To Do A ‘Mercy’ Finisher: During the ‘FINISHER HIM / HER’ window, input the following command.
    • (Far) Hold [L2 / LT / LZ]: Down, Down, Down, Down

Hold [L2], press down four times at Far range, then release to perform a Mercy. Your opponent will regain about 25%-30% health and resume the fight. Both Mercy and Brutality finishers seem to get 2 hearts instead of just 1 — Fatalities give 1 heart at the end of the battle.

Mercies aren’t only used for getting extra hearts. You’ll also need to perform 10 Mercies to unlock the ‘Heart of the One Being‘ — a key item for the Krypt.
