A Lean Map Without All The Fat
There are no vehicles in Apex Legends. Disappointingly, there are no Titans in a game inspired by the Titanfall universe. There’s an added bonus to that little fact — the map is incredibly detailed from top-to-bottom, with none of the boring fat. You can move from one arena to the next smoothly, and it doesn’t take too much time to chase the ring. This map is all about distinct locations, and they’re all varied — from industrial wrecks to thick jungle.
Some maps are open and sprawling for sniper support, while others are tight, with close-quarters rooms and narrow corridors. That means you won’t have to cross long boring distances, and Snipers are far less powerful. There’s just too much meticulously designed map for easy sharpshooting.
There’s A Legendary Loot Box Guarantee
You earn XP for everything in Apex Legends. Earn enough XP, and you’ll level up, which rewards you with nice prizes like Apex Packs — and just as a note, you can earn +5% Survival XP for every friend you invite to your party. Back to my point, Apex Packs are the game’s loot crates. It’s an annoying fact of life, but Apex Predators is a free-2-play game, so it has to earn an income somehow. That “somehow” is selling loot boxes full of cosmetics.
Apex Packs are completely optional, and won’t give you anything you need to succeed. They’re only for cosmetics, but I love me some good cosmetics. Legendary rarity drops are the best — usually including cool finisher animations, or the best skins for weapons / heroes. What makes Apex Packs special is that you won’t get duplicate cosmetics, and you’re guaranteed a legendary every 30 Apex Packs. Not exactly the best deal in the world, but at least it’s something.
