Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 20 Tips To Help You Beat World of Light | Spirits Mode Guide

December 12, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

World of Light is a gargantuan new singleplayer mode for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Here’s everything you need to know to win.

#17: You Can Summon New, Unique Spirits By Dismissing Spirits You Don’t Need

There’s one feature the game doesn’t explain very well — the Summon feature. Check Summon (under Party) when managing your Spirits, and you’ll find a large list of secret Spirits you can unlock. Here, you can transmute Spirits into new, more powerful Spirits — you can either manually dismiss Spirits to get the Cores you need, or you can select revealed Spirits in the Summon menu, and automatically dismiss them.

#18: On A Weird Level With A Tough Opponent? Choose Kirby and Float To The Edge

Here’s a cheesy trick you can use on those hyper-active levels. Kirby is one of the floatiest heroes around, and if you select certain Spirits, you can jump higher, float longer, or get extra mid-air jumps. Use Kirby in tough battles and float up to the top-left / top-right corner of the screen. Keep doing it, and the AI is bound to try and follow you. Then they’ll… kill themselves. Accidentally. It happens a lot more often than you might think.

#19: Fight Every Battle! There’s Usually A Spirit With A Helpful Ability Nearby

If you’re desperately stuck, try to backtrack and clear every single battle you can. Sometimes, there are spirits down optional paths with absolutely critical skills. For example, in the Power Plant, you can find a Support Spirit with the Franklin Badge that provides protection against lightning. Or, you might find a Support Spirit that protects against control / screen reversals, right before fighting a series of opponents that use that trick.

#20: Treasure Chests & Character Unlock Battles Give Tons Of Skill Points

If you don’t feel like buying Skill Points from the store, you’ll find lots of them by following three simple rules. 1) Open every treasure chest you find. 2) Fight every Character Unlock battle you find. 3) Don’t use over-leveled Spirits in standard battles. Follow all of those rules, and you’ll earn enough Skill Points to really improve your hero.
