Legendary Animals are some of the toughest battles in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. Even the early legendary hunts can be incredibly difficult — they don’t fight like regular boars. Legendary Animals are unstoppable boss-battles. The boar summons waves of boar helpers to fight you in his battle, for example. These fights are so tough, fans are resorting to using tricks to help bring them down.
One of the best tricks is luring enemies to the Legendary Animals. Leaders, and especially high-level mercenaries, are perfect cannon fodder for your Legendary Hunts. It’s a hilarious little trick, and you’ll essentially kill two birds with one stone — the Mercenaries and the Legendary Animal will be so weakened, you can finish them off yourself if they’re still alive after the fight.

How To Easily Defeat Legendary Animals | Hunting Trick Guide
If you’re struggling against a Legendary Animal fight and need extra help to bring these insane beasts down, you can trick your enemies into fighting them. Unlike regular enemies, animals will attack everything — they have no allegiances, so you can lure any opponent to fight these things. Doing it is relatively easy, too.
- Build up your Wanted Meter until a Mercenary is dispatched to hunt you. The higher the Wanted Level, the more powerful the Mercenary.
- You’ll most likely only need a Mercenary that’s a little higher level than you.
- Wait until a Mercenary appears nearby. When they spot you, sprint to the Legendary Hunt location!
- Mercenaries will follow you for a long time. As long as you’re on the island with the Legendary Hunt, you should be able to lure Mercenaries into a fight.
- Go to the Legendary Beast and start fighting. Wait until the Mercenary and the Beast engage, and now you can sit back and enjoy the show.
- The Legendary Beast will (basically) always win in a fight against a Mercenary. While the Beast is distracted by the Mercenary, attack them from behind! Get in some easy hits, then get away.
- Eventually, one of the two fighters (Mercenary vs. Beast) will die. Finish off the other side, and you’re good to go.
This works with literally anyone. If there’s a bandit camp nearby, you can lure the entire group of enemies (and the Leader) to the Beast boss arena for a fight. It’s kind of like being a beast-master, except the beast is totally crazy and attacks everyone it sees.
