Valkyria Chronicles 4: 11 Tips To Help You Master Every Battle | Beginner’s Guide

September 26, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Get 11 combat-ready tips from a Valkyria veteran. Here’s everything you need to know about Valkyria Chronicles 4, with tips to help you earn A-Ranks every time.

Any Extra CP You Have Will Carry Over To The Next Round

CP is the lifeblood of your army. Using CP wisely is how you win in Valkyria 4 — everything is a calculated risk in Valkyria 4, you can always miss that crucial shot due to bad luck. The more CP you have, the more risks you can take.

  • CP is used to take control of units on the battlefield. You’ll also use it to issue Orders — special effects that give bonuses, or launch attacks on enemies.

You begin each round with more CP if you deploy with leaders. From the start of the round, I recommend always deploying with all your leaders in the first camp, and only deploying with units you absolutely need. Don’t deploy with all 10 of your units. It helps to only deploy with 5-6, so that way you can easily summon more without wasting CP.

If you end your turn with leftover CP, it will carry over into the next turn. CP is never wasted if you end your turn early, and you can use that extra CP to launch orders or make a concentrated push in a single turn. If you’re really cautious, you can even wait multiple turns just to build up lots of CP — but you’ll get a bad end-of-mission ranking for those tactics.

Use Orders To Enhance Your Units | Evasion On Scouts For Quick Completion

It’s easy to overlook orders, but they’re incredibly useful. Orders, like Snipers and Mortars, are off-site help you can use to support your most critical class — the Scout. Early on, you’ll unlock the Evasion Up order, that enhances your defense against interception fire. It’s incredibly useful for Scouts, and later more Orders will unlock that make things even easier.

Orders are incredibly powerful in previous Valkyria games, and I’m sure they’ll be just as useful. Buffing individual soldiers is a lot smarter too — instead of firing that Lancer three times into a Heavy Tank’s radiator, try enhancing their Anti-Tank power with an Order.

Same goes for Snipers. Give them an Accuracy Up boost, so they won’t miss that critical shot and run out of ammo. There are lots of orders, and you can even unlock missable orders in the HQ.
