Pokemon Quest: 10 Tips To Help You Get Started | Beginner’s Guide

July 9, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

There’s another Pokemon game available on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch. Here’s everything you need to know before catching ’em all.

#8: Get Guaranteed Rare Drops If You Complete Multiple Expeditions In A Row

There’s a reason you don’t want to quit your sessions too early. If you continue to play, you’ll build a daily Expedition Bonus meter – when the meter is full, you’ll always get a guaranteed gold Power Stone drop in the next expedition you go on. When that meter is glowing, you’ll want to hit an Expedition you can definitely complete – just to be safe!

#9: Check Your Base Camp For Bonus Pokemon

I don’t know what causes this, but you don’t want to just leave your Base Camp before checking out every corner. Sometimes you’ll find a totally new Pokemon just hanging out with a red exclamation point of their heads. If you find one of these guys, you’re probably going to want to click on them.

Finding (and tapping) these little guys will immediately add them to your Pokedex. Yes, they’ll join your team roster! Not half bad, and you can easily miss them if you don’t look around. No waiting for meals to cook or anything.

#10: Have Too Many Pokemon? Use Training To Level Up!

If your Pokemon inventory is getting full, you can discard extra Pokemon with the Training feature. Open the “Edit Team” menu and you’ll find the training button on the right – essentially, you discard Pokemon to increase the level of one Pokemon. You can also use training to learn new moves!

Place the Pokemon you want to level up at the top, then place up to four Support Pokemon at the bottom of the screen. Tap “Start Training” and you’ll discard the Support Pokemon and add some XP to your primary Pokemon. It’s a great, easy way to increase your level quickly and clear up space in your Pokemon inventory.

Move Learning works a little bit differently. Instead, you need to place Pokemon in the Support Pokemon slots to increase the chances your Pokemon will learn a new move. The percentage will increase as you add higher level Pokemon – but if you don’t add enough, you’ll lose your Support Pokemon and get nothing for them. This is a riskier move, so only use Pokemon you’re absolutely sure you don’t want anymore!
