Gaping Dragon
The terrifying Gaping Dragon guards the key to Blighttown in the sewer Depths. This boss is completely optional if you select the Master Key as your gift (or select the Thief class) during character creation. The Master Key allows you to enter Blighttown without the Gaping Dragon Key.
- NOTE: Get the Dragon King Greataxe for cutting off the Gaping Dragon’s tail.
The dragon’s head is extremely vulnerable to damage. When it rears back and lunges forward with it’s giant gaping ribcage, it will stun itself and expose the head, which you can now attack for huge damage. Swap to two-handed stance if you’re using a weapon with only one hand for extra damage.
Back off when you’re too close or the dragon will freak out. While attacking the legs / tail area, the dragon will burp pools of acid. Quick rolls are most effective during this fight, and the shield only helps if you’re struggling to dodge through the dragon’s attacks. The hitbox on the Gaping Dragon can be strange.
