Sonic Mania: How To Access Level Select | Cheat Code List

August 18, 2017 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Jump straight into the Level Select menu from the Title Screen in Sonic Mania with this simple cheat code. No progress required on Switch.

Jump to any level from the Title Screen in Sonic Mania with these cheat codes — just input a certain combination of buttons on the Nintendo Switch and you’ll warp straight to a level select screen. There’s more than just levels to select here too. Unfortunately, on PS4 and Xbox One, it’s a little more complicated than that.

Level Select and cheats are a long-running staple of the classic Sonic games, and Sonic Maniac isn’t about to forget those old-school accruements. There’s even a Sound Test, so you can listen to the music or sound effects. Scroll to the bottom-right corner of the Level Select to choose “Sound Test” and give the whole OST a listen. See how to enter Level Select on every platform with the quickie guide below, and don’t miss all the other Sonic Mania guides on Gameranx.

How To Access Level Select | Cheat Code List

NOTE: After completing the game, you can select any standard level from the save menu. That isn’t the same as the Level Select, and isn’t quite as powerful — there are totally unique things you can do with the Level Select screen.

To access the Level Select, input the following buttons from the Title Screen.

  • Nintendo Switch: Y+B

On PS4 & Xbox One, the process is more complicated. Open Mania Mode -> Secrets -> Debug Mode: ON. You’ll need to unlock Debug Mode by completing Bonus Stages to access the Level Select. The more medals you earn for completing Bonus Stages, the more extra secret features you’ll unlock in the Secrets menu.

  • While highlighting a “No Save” file in Mania Mode
    • PS4: Square+Options
    • Xbox One: X+Menu

The Level Select menu includes lots of cool stuff, including a Sound Test and both Special Stages. Now you can replay levels in any order you want, listen to some music, experience the true final boss without getting all the Chaos Emeralds, and generally have a good time. You can even play as Tails / Knuckles for the secret final boss!
