Microsoft announced Xbox Play Anywhere at E3 2016 in an effort to expand Xbox Live services and bridge the gap between the company’s console and PC platforms.
Any digital game compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere can now be shared on two platforms; the Xbox One and any Windows 10 PC linked with the same Xbox Live account. Not only will you own these particular titles on both platforms, you’ll share saves and achievements too. Xbox Play Anywhere – Everything You Need To Know
If you still have questions about Xbox Play Anywhere, here are the most important facts to know about the cross-play service.
- Xbox Play Anywhere is only compatible with Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
- The games listed above are Xbox Play Anywhere compatible. This is not the full list, more games will be added in the future.
- Xbox Play Anywhere does NOT cost extra. There is no added cost to play on Xbox One or Windows 10 PC.
- A Xbox Play Anywhere game can only be signed-on from the owner’s account on one platform.
- Game progress is saved and shared between Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. You can pick-up and play where you left off and switch between platforms on the fly.
- Any downloadable content purchased on one platform will also share on Xbox One or Windows 10 PC.
- Xbox Play Anywhere only applies to digital game purchases through the Microsoft Store, Xbox Live Marketplace, or through digital codes. Physical releases are exempt from the service.
