Ubisoft could use a win. We’ve seen a ton of reports on potential buyouts being considered. After a few misses lately with their releases, the next major release on the radar is hopeful to deliver in a big way. So, as developers carefully work on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, more fans are hopeful that the rumored Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will come shortly after.
For many fans, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is their favorite installment. The video game brought players into a pirate’s life as they battled off the Templar Order and took command of a ship. This was a fun game to play back in the day, but as mentioned, there are rumors that Ubisoft has a remake of the works for the game. A new online report suggests a playtest potentially coming sooner rather than later.
Thanks to PK Insight, we’re learning of X user Assassin’s Creed Interface, who stated that they received an email from Ubisoft to participate in a playtest, one that was unrelated to Assassin’s Creed. However, the same email also engaged interest in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. That has some wondering if a playtest is coming soon for the remake, and if that is the case, then we might still see the title launch within 2025.
That would be notable, as Assassin’s Creed Shadows is still coming out. While it was delayed out of last year and again this month, fans should get the next mainline installment this March. That would leave room for a potential release of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag later this year. This installment was already a success, and Ubisoft could be banking on a remake treatment to deliver in a big way.
We even reported earlier this month on another rumor suggesting that this potential remake would be a substantial upgrade. Of course, all of this is just speculation and rumors right now. We’re still waiting for the official announcement.
