After some new horror games to get through? Well you’re in luck. 2025 looks to be packed with some incredible horror experiences. In this list, we will highlight some of our most anticipated games coming out in the 2025 calendar year. Don’t look at these games in a particularly ranked order. Instead, these are just some games we can’t wait to get our hands on.
#19 Paranormal Tales
We’ve all heard of the “found footage” genre, right? They’re the tales of “real people” who happened to record the misadventures and terrors that befell them and those who watch it try to uncover the truth.
In Paranormal Tales, you’ll get to experience multiple horrifying tales from the viewpoint of those recording their doom. Each tale is unique and has a different setting, a different ending, and more. You’ll need to explore all that’s going on and see if you can even make it to the end of the story.
What horrors await you in these tales? You’ll find out when you play!
#18 Instinction
Instinction is an action game where you can play both the first-person and third-person perspectives. You traverse through a vast and big world where you complete quests in order to go further into the world. While exploring you need to be aware of the surrounding danger. The main threat here are dinosaurs. There are huge monsters that can decimate you, but you must not underestimate small and agile dinos. They can mess with you too. You will use both ranged and melee weapons to get rid of dinosaurs if you manage to do it that is.
#17 FEROCIOUS
It’s bad enough that you’ve shipwrecked on an island and are on a desperate search for your brother, who also happens to be there, but soon you’ll find out that’s just SOME of your worries! The island is curiously infested with mercenaries. What are they doing there? What are they searching for? Does it have something to do with your brother? You’ll have to outwit them and take them out before they do the same thing to you!
Oh, and did we mention that this island…has dinosaurs? Because it does, and they’ll happily make a snack out of you if you let them!
#16 Tormented Souls 2
Oh yeah, Caroline Walker is back, and things will be just as bad for her this time as it was in her last adventure!
She desires nothing more than to just be with her sister and have a “normal life.” But you all know that’s impossible for her. So when her sister Anna falls ill, Caroline will have to wander haunted and supernatural places to find a way to cure her.
Like before, Caroline will have to face horrors of terrifying nature and have to craft weapons to combat them. Everything you find can be put to work as a weapon, so don’t miss an opportunity to make something great and stay alive!
#15 ILL
When a town randomly goes mad and horrifying things happen within, it’s up to you to determine why that was and whether you can survive the madness yourself.
Make no mistake, this game is there to creep you out, freak you out, and make you wish you didn’t have a queasy stomach. It revels in its “dismemberment system” that will take the blood and gore to new heights. Plus, the monsters you face aren’t mindless vessels. They can be clever, and if you’re not equally clever, you’ll be overrun by them.
Survival is all about strategy and using what’s around you to your advantage. So if you survive, you’ll have earned it.
#14 Dying Light: The Beast
Castor Woods is back, but he’s not exactly the person you remember. Dying Light: The Beast puts you as Castor after over a decade of experiments, finally breaking free from his prison and deciding to go after those who held him there.
The problem emerges when he realizes that the area he’s now in is full of people trying to survive, and there are numerous factions and monsters willing to wipe them out for their own goals.
To stop them and defeat all before him, Woods must utilize the new powers that he has, even if that means transforming into a monster to get the job done.
#13 The Sinking City 2
Lovecraft knew how to make a horror story, and that’s why numerous video games, including The Sinking City 2, reference his works as they tell a tale of suspense and dread. Oh, and monsters. You have to have monsters in a Lovecraftian tale!
In the game, you’ll play a detective within the city of Arkham and attempt to defeat the monsters within it while also learning the truth that is lurking just under the surface.
The game has puzzles to solve, numerous weapons to use, and all kinds of terrors to face. Are you up for the task? Or will you be the city’s next victim?
#12 Hunger
Not all terrors are monsters, even if the world is filled with them. Hunger puts you in an alternate version of the world where a plague full-on decimated Europe, and the results of that plague transformed more than just the people.
You are one of the lucky few who were able to endure the plague’s effects, and you set out on a quest to see what life can be like in this “world after the end.”
As you travel, you’ll meet other survivors, get the opportunity to get quests, and face off against all manner of creature.
Can you find a place for yourself in this new world?
#11 Decadent
One of the key elements of a Lovecraft-style story is that of people going a bit too far for their own good and ending up paying for it dearly. In Decadent, you play a veteran of World War I who gets into the occult and accidentally gets a parasite inside their body. Yeah, that’s going to be a problem.
You then embark on a journey that pushes your mind and body to the limit and forces you to answer the question of how far you would go for someone dear to you. Will you do unspeakable acts to defeat the monsters around you? Or will you simply become the next monster?
#10 Necrophosis
What would it be like to live in a universe that is already dead, and yet it can still die in ways that boggle the mind? That is one of the key concepts behind Necrophosis, a puzzle horror nightmare of a title that will make you wonder what you are seeing even as you experience it!
Your character will soon find themselves in a universe that death has encapsulated fully, but death itself is not safe from the decay that is touching everything within the universe.
Sight, sound, and more aren’t safe from its grasp, so you must figure out what is happening here and if you can even survive it!
#9 Gears of War E-Day
They say that every story has a beginning, and for Gears of War E-Day, you’ll find out the story that started the epic saga of Marcus Fenix, Dom, and others.
This is the day when the Locust swarms invaded the Earth, and everything started to fall apart. How did the human race fall so quickly? What exactly happened with Marcus that led to him going AWOL? How were the Locusts able to do so much in so little time?
You’ll witness the fall of Earth and its people as you live the events that were only spoken of before. So grab your gear, you have a war to fight.
#8 DOOM: The Dark Ages
Here’s a franchise that we all thought couldn’t get any more “metal,” so they decided to throw it into the Middle Ages! Eh, why not at this point? In DOOM: The Dark Ages, you’ll learn the “origin story” of the Doomslayer himself! That’s right, they’re taking things all the way back to a war many ages ago, where weapons were a bit different than you’re used to.
Oh, don’t worry; you’ll have plenty of tools and gear to take down the monsters and demons that sprang up from the underworld. You’ll just be doing it medieval-style this time around. Trust us, it’s even cooler than you think.
#7 Industria 2
If you were a fan of the original horror title, Industria 2 is here to show you the aftermath of the first game! Nora is back, and for a while, she was actually okay with all that happened. Sure, she ended up in a parallel dimension where there was no one else but her, but it was at least peaceful there!
Just as important, she was able to work on a device to take her back. However, ATLAS has other plans for her, and Nora will have to fight and outthink the AI and its plans so that she can save the world and hopefully get back to where she belongs.
#6 Witches of the New World
The Salem Witch Trials are one of the most important tales of the United States’ early days and proves what happens when hysteria meets the desire to see others to harm for no apparent reason. In Witches of the New World, a new developer will bring a different take on its aftermath, as you play a witch hunter sent to Salem to discern fact from fiction.
However, as you do so, you’ll discover that there is a new group who worships the devil and is trying to take over the town of Salem for themselves! Send them packing so that this land might finally know peace.
#5 Little Nightmares 3
Are you ready for your next nightmare? Don’t worry; this one won’t have you going at it on your own. In Little Nightmares 3, you’ll play with a co-op partner as you take control of Low & Alone, two beings trying to escape the neverending nightmare world they’re trapped in.
Within the place called “Nowhere” are many terrors, and you’ll have to work together to overcome not only the monsters that reside within it but also the puzzles that will unfold before your eyes.
Don’t take this game, or its world, for granted, as there are even greater terrors that are waiting for you as you attempt to escape.
#4 Jurassic Park Survival
So, what’s more terrifying than having to run away from dinosaurs trying to kill you? We’re sure there’s something out there that is scarier, but dinosaurs are pretty terrifying on their own!
Anyway, Jurassic Park Survival puts you as an employee of InGen, Dr. Maya Joshi, who just so happened to get trapped on Isla Nublar during the 1993 classic. However, unlike the main characters of that film, she’s still stuck there!
That means you’ll have to control Dr. Joshi and get here through the various buildings and habitats to find a way off the island. However, the dinosaurs won’t make it easy for you, so you must know where they are at all times!
#3 Killing Floor 3
Look, sometimes, when you see something scary, you want to shoot it. That’s why horror video games are so popular, as you get to shoot monsters without remorse and with all kinds of weaponry. The good news for fans of that mindset is that Killing Floor 3 is the ultimate “stress release” for those who want to kill monsters aplenty.
Set in the year 2091, you’ll team up with others to take on a corrupt corporation, as if there’s any other kind in the future, and wipe out the “Zeds” that they’ve created to try and take over the world.
Load up, have fun, and leave nothing alive outside of your party!
#2 State of Decay 3
It’s fair to say that State of Decay 3 took its sweet time to get made, and we don’t even know if it’ll live up to the hype of its long development. However, the previous title was a worthy entry in the horror/zombie apocalypse drama, so we’ll give it a shot.
The game will once again put you in a world where zombies are everywhere, and humanity isn’t in the best position. You’ll have to manage and guide a group of people to get supplies and fight off any undead beasts you come across.
Just remember, when someone dies, they’re gone for good. So do all you can to keep your group safe!
#1 Silent Hill F
Being honest here, we don’t know much about Silent Hill F. It was one of many titles within the franchise that Konami suddenly dropped on fans, and there hasn’t been any true follow-up about it since.
Here’s what we do know: the game is set in Japan in the 1960s, which is far earlier than the other games in the franchise. We also know that Konami sees this as a mainline entry, not a spinoff, so it’ll likely have the same kind of twisted story and tough gameplay that you would expect from the franchise.
If it works out, Konami could successfully bring back its beloved horror series.
