Released in February, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been a smash hit, bringing some of the most intense and emotional moments of the 1997 RPG to life in a powerful new way. Fans have particularly enjoyed the return of many familiar summons, like Shiva and Odin, which make even the toughest battles much easier to face.
A few of these powerful beings are missing, however, but Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, promises that the third and final installment of the remake will fill in the blanks.
According to the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Ultimania guidebook, four summons from the original game have yet to appear in the project, and Hamaguchi knows that most players are anxious for the return of Knights of the Round. He hopes to “create something that can live up to the expectation of the one in particular.” Knights of the Round is a particularly powerful summon and one of the more difficult to get in the original Final Fantasy VII.
The four summons missing from the Remake project are Knights of the Round, Hades, Bahamut Zero, and Typhon.
Additionally, the book notes that the team tried to match each summon to the area where it would likely appear when accounting for the game’s lore.
The third and final game in the remake project is expected sometime in 2027. The main story has already been completed and the development team will remain unchanged, meaning that things are well apace for the game’s completion.
