It’s been an incredibly busy 24 hours for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 fans. They’ve been patiently waiting for news on the story DLC from the final wave of the Expansion Pass, and then out of nowhere, the story trailer for “Future Redeemed” came out and blew everyone’s minds. Not only did we get that trailer, but official art and descriptions for some of the characters helped prepare people for the DLC arrival next week. But tucked away within that string of announcements was another reveal, one that had to do with Amiibo that we knew about, new ones that will arrive later this year.
As revealed by Nintendo on Twitter, two special Xenoblade Chronicles 3 amiibo will come out eventually. Unsurprisingly, they feature the two beloved main characters of the game: Noah and Mio.
The tweet sadly doesn’t give us much information about what we can expect to see from these Amiibo or what their function will be in the game. They’ll likely give some buffs or new outfits to Noah and Mio, as that’s typically the function of Amiibo. Even without the details, it’s nice to see the game getting the Amiibo treatment, even though it’s been out for several months.
But wait! There’s more! You might recall a certain other set of Amiibo tied to the franchise that hasn’t gotten a release date yet. So let’s see if Nintendo can fix that! Sure enough, the Pyra and Mythra Amiibo from the Super Smash Bros Ultimate collection is coming out this July.
The character models look really good, and it’ll be interesting to see if players use them to unlock that special skin for their Swordfighter classes.
While Amiibo aren’t as numerous as it used to be in its prime on the Wii U and 3DS, it’s nice to see that Nintendo is still using them to help support their big games.
Going back to the DLC for a bit, many fans are interested in the story because it will bring all three games together in a way that’s beyond what the title’s main story did. We will have Shulk, Rex, and a new main character in Matthew working together to save the people of the world/worlds from a familiar threat.
But while that trailer was epic, there are still many questions that fans want to be answered. That’s why the wait until April 25th will be so hard! But we will endure so that we can go on that journey with them.
