As the Final Fantasy XIV community gears up for the game’s next major expansion, Square Enix has shared the first lot of preliminary patch notes for 6.3. The new update, entitled ‘Gods Revel, Lands Tremble,’ is headed into the long-running and massively popular MMORPG next Tuesday, January 10.
It certainly looks as though there’ll be plenty of engaging new content for players to entertain themselves with. The newly-released early patch notes share some further details on the game’s new stories, sidequests, mounts and minions, one of which will be a super cute-looking Corgi dog. Another minion detailed is a small ghost companion who seems to be somewhat reminiscent of Mama from fellow Square Enix title Nier Re[in]carnation.
In addition to now being able to swim and eventually dive in upper La Noscea, players will also be able to take part in a new 24-player raid and a new Unreal trial as part of the incoming patch. Alongside this, a new Treasure Hunt dungeon and set of maps have been added, plus there’ll be some new PvP-based content in the form of a new arena for players to do battle in as part of the game’s Crystalline Conflict mode. In terms of new items, players can look forward to an influx of new hairstyles, emotes, armour and other gear to ensure that they look the part for the new expansion.
There are some big changes coming to the housing system in the upcoming update, with the preliminary patch notes sharing a few insights into how things will work. A total of twelve new wards will be available per district as part of the patch, with plots in all of these new wards available for purchase via the game’s lottery system. Players will also see the addition of apartments to all wards, which should help to ease the game’s current housing crisis somewhat. New furnishings will also be making their way into Final Fantasy XIV to give all of that new housing a fresh look. This also includes new fish for player aquariums, as well as a new variety of garden seed to spruce up your flowerpots with.
There’s clearly a lot more new content on the way, but to get a feel for some of what’s heading into Final Fantasy XIV from next week you can check out the preliminary patch notes in full over on the official website. Further updates are expected to follow in the coming days, but there’s not much longer to wait until the release of Patch 6.3 ‘Gods Revel, Lands Tremble.’
Final Fantasy XIV is available to play now on PC, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
