Silent Hills Duo Hideo Kojima And Norman Reedus Reunite

February 16, 2016 by Stephen Daly

Are the two planning to collaborate again in future?

Silent Hills
Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus have reunited for an update on the new Kojima Productions.

The two had been working together on cancelled horror project Silent Hills at Konami. Kojima and Reedus met last night to discuss Kojima’s new studio and while the direction of their conversation is a mystery, they both seem pleased. Fans will, of course, hope this means the two plan to make games in future but any such announcement will come in due time.

Kojima is visiting Las Vegas this week ahead of keynote address to the DICE Summit tomorrow, February 17th. He’ll be joined by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy), who was also collaborating on Silent Hills before the project derailed. The director said the game’s cancellation “makes no f**king sense” as it would have been “remarkable.”

Following his keynote speech, Kojima will be inducted into DICE’s Hall of Fame.

Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski recently claimed he was approached by Kojima to work on Silent Hills as well, but turned him down.

Konami has said it is committed to future Silent Hill games but no forthcoming games have been announced. Silent Hills was cancelled during Kojima’s year long and often public conflict with Konami, which ultimately resulted in the veteran developer leaving the studio with most of his senior staff to establish a new Kojima Productions when his contract expired in December.

His first game at the new developer will be made in collaboration with Sony.
