As if we’ve not filled our plates with enough Kirby as is this year, but Nintendo is force-feeding us more with Kirby’s Return To Dreamland Deluxe having been just announced at the recent September 2022, Nintendo Direct Showcase.
Amidst a showcase that included the likes of Octopath Traveler II, Pikmin 4, The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, Bayonetta 3, Fire Emblem Engage, Tales Of Symphonia Remastered, and much more, was the remake of the Wii Game, Kirby’s Return To Dreamland, a beloved critically, but criminally overlooked title. Now that the game is being remade, and off the back of successes such as Kirby And The Forgotten Land, and even the recent party game, Kirby’s Dream Buffet, Kirby’s Return To Dreamland Deluxe has an opportunity to succeed where the game didn’t previously on the dwindling Wii console.
The Nintendo-issued press release outlines the following about the coming remake,
The heroic puffball’s Wii game is returning … this time in deluxe proportions. One day, a mysterious spaceship crash-lands on Planet Popstar. To help the mysterious Magolor, Kirby and his friends set off on a captivating quest. When inhaling certain enemies, Kirby will gain access to a wide range of Copy Abilities – with the new Mecha Copy Ability making its debut. The game supports local multiplayer for up to four players on the same console. Plus, everyone can play as Kirby at the same time while using their favourite Copy Abilities, There’s also a collection of subgames to play, including returning ones like Samurai Kirby and new ones like Magolor’s Tome Trackers.
The game’s website also states,
The tough puff Kirby is back for a 4-player platforming adventure. Copy enemies’ abilities and use their power to attack with a sword, wield a whip, and float with a parasol. You can also laser blast with the new Mecha Copy Ability that makes a series debut! The extra muscle will be handy in finding missing pieces for Magolor’s ship, which crash landed on Planet Popstar. Float and fight along with friends on the same system, where each player can control another Kirby or one of Kirby’s iconic friends like King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Bandana Waddle Dee.
Take a break from the adventure and play subgames with friends
Play attractions built around returning subgames like Samurai Kirby as well as some brand-new ones like Magolor’s Tome Trackers. Bring along up to 3 additional friends on a detour from the adventure as you compete on the same system and share the fun together!
Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe is slated to launch on the Nintendo Switch on one of the busiest days of the 2023 gaming calendar, February 24, 2023 alongside Octopath Traveler II, and Atelier Ryza 3, all for Nintendo Switch.
