Capcom announced new surprise crossover content for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. They also shared a demo of the game playable on New 3DS at Tokyo Game Show.
They already added costumes for Felynes to dress up as Mario and Luigi. However, today they revealed a new costume for Felynes to dress up as Sonic The Hedgehog. It does still look like a cat in a costume, as opposed to an alternate skin, and for a game as over the top as Monster Hunter, this is just appropriate. Felyne Sonic also gets armed with Caliburn, the living sword who aids Sonic inSonic and the Black Knight.
Another crossover, this time from Namco Bandai, is with rarely imported rhythm franchise Taiko no Tatsukon, or Taiko Drum Master. Don, the lead character from Taiko Drum Master, is now a Hunting Horn. The Hunting Horn is similar to the Hammer in Monster Hunter, only in has impact damage and can stun a target when it connects to the head.
4Gamer shared the footage of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate being played on a New 3DS XL. The player briefly used the ZL and ZR buttons, as well as the second analog nub. The player moved his fingers towards the bottom of the unit, but this did not affect the playability of the game. If nothing else, the New 3DS retains passable, if not exemplary,
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be released early 2015 for Nintendo 3DS in US and Europe, with both the Sonic and Taiko no Tatsujin content preinstalled. You can watch the New 3DS gameplay footage below.
