Minecraft Xbox One Edition will be available September 5 for download in the Xbox Store. This means Xbox One got the jump on PlayStation 4 as the first 8th generation console to receive the game.
Fans who already own Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition can upgrade for just $ 4.99. All the content Xbox 360 owners purchased before will also be available to redownload on the Xbox One. The full standalone game is priced at $ 19.99.
Retailers will get the game later in the holidays, as both a packaged disc and digital download code. If you cannot wait to play the game on Xbox One now, you can upgrade or download in two days.
Last week, 4J Studios shared that they just resubmitted builds to Microsoft and Sony for certification. They did confirm then that they had narrowed down the bugs for the Xbox One version, but the Vita version still needed some work.
A small #MinecraftXBLA update is in test. This adds the ability to transfer Xbox 360 saves to #MinecraftXBox1 ahead of its release.

4J also confirmed then that they were working on an additional feature for fans upgrading from Xbox 360, that will allow them to transfer their saves to the Xbox One version. There is no indication thus far that that update will be going live with the game’s initial release, but it may already be in there.
