Minecraft for Xbox One, PS4 and PS Vita Likely Delayed to September

August 26, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Fans will soon be able to get their hands on Minecraft for the PS4, Xbox One and PS Vita.

It’s no big secret that Minecraft is coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Judging from updates posted by the game’s developers at 4J studios, we may be getting our hands on the games on those platforms in a fairly short period of time.

It was only a few days ago that the developers revealed that Minecraft had failed to certify on the PlayStation 4 platform. It would appear that 4J Studios has managed to resolve all of the game’s bugs to send it back to Sony for another round of certifications.

“#MinecraftPS4 is back with Sony for final testing,” they wrote. “Fingers crossed.”

Additionally, 4J Studios announced that it intends to get its Xbox One version sent in for certification at Microsoft before the end of the week.

They stated: “Down to the last few bugs with #MinecraftXbox1  – hoping to hand it over to Microsoft by the end of the week!”

Players hoping to get their hands on the PS4 version of the game at the same time as the PS Vita may be disappointed, as 4J Studios revealed that the PS Vita version of the game needs a bit more work done on it before they can send it in to Sony.

“We have a bit more work to do on #MinecraftPSVita before we can hand it over to Sony.

We'll let you know when we hand it over,” they wrote on Twitter.

The studio intends to run a few update tests for the games in order to provide players with the ability to upload their PS3 saves for the PS4 version of the game, and to transfer Xbox 360 saves to the Xbox One version.

Certification from Microsoft and Sony usually takes around a week or two, so we may be looking at a September release for both Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game.
