There has been a slowly growing number of video game titles being adapted into films. Most oftentimes these film adaptations fail to meet the essence and fun that the games originally delivered. That’s not slowing productions down, after all, you have films such as Mortal Kombat along with an Uncharted movie in the works. Of course, there is even room for IP owners to give another look at reboots and that’s what may be in the works for Assassin’s Creed.
If you recalled, an Assassin’s Creed movie adaptation came out just a few years ago but failed to hit any big strides. This left the movie without a sequel, but according to We Got This Covered, after Disney had purchased Fox, it seems that the Mickey Mouse company wants to bring out a reboot of some sort to the Assassin’s Creed movie.
Our sources say this could either end up as a theatrically released film or, the studio may first reboot the property on Disney Plus and if it’s successful, it could potentially spawn a movie or two.
The media outlet has sources who claim that Disney is planning on either a reboot of the movie or potentially bring out a live-action series to their Disney Plus streaming service. This would allow the company to bring out another attempt at a live-action Assassin’s Creed where if proven to be successful, will result in being adapted into a series of movies.
Outside of the supposed rumored source, it seems that Disney has plans on a full reboot with a new cast to feature so we won’t see any familiar faces return. Again, this is purely a rumor right now so it’s best to take this news as a grain of salt.
