The Next Mainline Assassin’s Creed Was Not Confirmed For China

August 5, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Translations from Chinajoy 2019 were have been reported falsely.

Chinajoy 2019 was held recently and it brought out several companies and key figures from the industry. For instance, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot was present which prompted a few interviews and reports in regards to his statements. One of those statements was falsely translated and as a result, the internet went wild with a statement that was not entirely accurate. If you recently came across a report about the Assassin’s Creed franchise then you’ll want to read cautiously. With Assassin’s Creed being one of the biggest IPs owned by Ubisoft, the studio is likely prepping for the announcement of their next mainline installment to the franchise, but it wasn’t going to happen at Chinajoy 2019.

In reports that went out online this past weekend, you would have likely seen Assassin’s Creed will take place in China in the next installment. That was according to translations from an interview that Yves conducted during the event, but it turns out that was mistranslated. What Yves Guillemot was saying according to a Twitter user is that Yves would love to see a mainline game from the Assassin’s Creed franchise based in China but there is nothing he could say at the moment.

There is some misinformation going around about how Yves Guillemot confirmed a new Assassin's Creed game set in China.

What was actually said was that he would love to see a mainline AC based in China but there is nothing he can say today.

It’s unknown just where this game will take place next after all the franchise got a good rest as Ubisoft held off on putting an Assassin’s Creed game out in 2019. With their past main entry, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is quite the large open-world and lengthy narrative campaign for players, we’re certainly interested in finding out just what the studio will do next with the long-running franchise.
