Assault Rifles are medium to high capacity weapons ideal for close and mid range combat. They’re the most versatile type of weapon in PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS due to their synergy with attachments and it is recommended that you carry at least one on you for late game combat.
AKM
One of the most feared weapons in the game the AKM does the most raw damage of any assault rifle at the expense of the speed that some of the other assault rifles have. The AKM uses 7.62mm ammo which is more scarce than 5.56mm making it somewhat unreliable early game.
Ammo: 7.62mm
Ammo Capacity: 30 stock, 40 extended
Attachment Slots: 3
M16A4
The M16A4 is the most common assault rifle in the game and a very versatile and reliable weapon capable of being effective at short, medium and long ranges provided you have the right attachments
for it.
Ammo: 5.56mm
Ammo Capacity: 30 stock, 40 extended
Attachment Slots: 3
M416
The big brother to the M16A4 the M416 is regarded as the most versatile weapon in the entire game. With 5 attachment slots the M16A4 is capable of excelling at short, medium and even long range combat. The M416 is slightly less common than the M16A4 but is a weapon that any serious player should learn to master.
Ammo: 5.56mm
Ammo Capacity: 30 stock, 40 extended
Attachment Slots: 5
SCAR-L
If the M416 is the big brother to the M16A4 then the SCAR-L is the AKM’s big brother. The SCAR-L sacrifices a small amount of raw power and range for a higher rate of fire and attachment count than the AKM. The more abundant 5.56mm ammo type and better spray control also make it a better choice over the AKM.
Ammo: 5.56mm
Ammo Capacity: 30 stock, 40 extended
Attachment Slots: 4
Bows in PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS are a niche weapon more suited for solo and duo play. Their slow reload speed and silent executions make them ideal for fights where you have the jump on an opponent. But once the bullets start flying you will want to swap out the bow for a weapon more suited for full on combat.
Crossbow
The Crossbow has been in and out of the game at various patches but has settled in as a great weapon for solo and duo play. The Crossbow will instantly knockout any player struck in the head without a helmet and is capable of inflicting a large amount of damage to those without body armor. It is a low maintenance weapon that has it’s own stock scope.
Ammo: Bolt
Ammo Capacity: 1
Attachment Slots: 3
DMRs are a mid range weapon capable of inflicting more damage than assault rifles but with less range than sniper rifles.
SKS
The SKS fills the range gap between an assault rifle and a sniper rifle at the expense of an assault rifle’s ammo capacity and a sniper rifle’s range and power. This makes the SKS a jack
of all trades master of none weapon that is certainly viable for mid range combat but isn’t for everyone’s play style.
Ammo: 7.62mm
Ammo Capacity: 10 stock, 20 extended
Attachment Slots: 3
Submachine Guns are short range weapons capable of burying your opponent in bullets provided you actually hit them. What they lack in accuracy they make up for in pure
entertainment value.
Micro UZI
The iconic Micro UZI is an incredibly fast firing weapon capable of emptying a clip in mere seconds. The Micro UZI is one of the few weapons in the game that can be fired while directly behind an obstacle making it a great weapon for close range indoor combat. The low attachment count and large weapon spray make it an unreliable late game weapon however.
Ammo: 9mm
Ammo Capacity: 25 stock, 35 extended
Attachment Slots: 3
Tommy Gun
The airdrop only Tommy Gun is the fastest firing weapon in the entire game capable of firing over 100 bullets in a few seconds. While each bullet does little damage on their own any opponent caught in the Tommy Gun’s firing range will quickly be overwhelmed with bullet holes. The Tommy Gun is more of a meme weapon that you will only encounter once in a while than a weapon you need to strategize around.
Ammo: .45 ACP
Ammo Capacity: 100
Attachment Slots: 1
UMP9
The UMP9 is one of the most common guns in the game and the abundant 9mm ammo type make it an early game staple for many players. It is an above average gun in all aspects and with the right attachments can be viable even for late game situations.
Ammo: 9mm
Ammo Capacity: 30 stock, 45 extended
Attachment Slots: 4
Vector
The Vector is the king of all submachine guns capable of dispatching a full clip in seconds. A fully decked out Vector excels at medium range combat and the 4 attachment slots make it a sought after and versatile weapon for all stages of the game.
Ammo: .45 ACP
Ammo Capacity: 13 stock, 25 extended
Attachment Slots: 4
Shotguns in PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS work much the way they do in other games. They mow down people in close quarters while seemingly missing anybody more than an arm’s length away. They are extremely effective for clearing a building or sneaking up on someone behind a tree but their effective range make them more suited as an alternative weapon than your killing device.
S12K
The S12K is a semi automatic shotgun capable of firing twice as fast as other shotguns making it an ideal weapon to shoot concealed opponents or to provide cover fire for yourself or allies.
Ammo: 12 Gauge
Ammo Capacity: 5 stock, 8 extended
Attachment Slots: 3
S1897
The pump-action shotgun is a staple in any FPS and the S1897 is no exception. The S1897 is capable of downing most foes in one direct shot and the 5 round ammo capacity make sure that even those with bad aim can hit somebody. This gun is as low maintenance as they come.
Ammo: 12 Gauge
Ammo Capacity: 5
Attachment Slots: 2
S686
This under-over shotgun provides nearly double the range of it’s pump-action counterpart making it a deceptively effective mid range weapon if you can get the jump on your target. The incredibly low ammo count makes it a high risk high reward weapon that should be replaced as soon as possible.
Ammo: 12 Gauge
Ammo Capacity: 2
Attachment Slots: 2
Sniper Rifles are the ultimate ranged weapons capable of downing enemies from hundreds of meters away. What they lack in ammo capacity and firing rate they make up for in ability to
one-shot enemies before they can even see you.
AWM
This airdrop only sniper rifle boasts the maximum range and power for any weapon in the game as well as being highly customizable. The scarce .300 magnum ammo type is the one downfall to this sniper rifle butthe name alone will have your opponent’s hiding behind any cover they can find.
Ammo: .300 Magnum
Ammo Capacity: 5 stock, 7 extended
Attachment Slots: 4
KAR98K
The KAR98K is a bolt-action sniper rifle capable of penetrating level 2 helmets. The KAR98K has lower range, power and firing rate of other sniper rifles making it more suited for medium range sniping from buildings or behind cover.
Ammo: .762mm
Ammo Capacity: 5
Attachment Slots: 3
M24
The M24 is an airdrop only sniper rifle that is more versatile than the KAR98K. It has slightly less range and power than the AWM but uses the more common 7.62mm ammo type making it the most reliable sniper rifle in the game.
Ammo: .762mm
Ammo Capacity: 5 stock, 7 extended
Attachment Slots: 4
Light Machine Guns offer higher damage and rate of fire than their assault rifle counterparts at the expense of effective range and ammo availability.
M249
The M249 is an airdrop only light machine gun capable of destroying a squad filled vehicle in the blink of an eye. The only thing this gun can cut through faster than a car is your ammo supply which makes
the M249 a niche weapon better suited for having fun than winning a round.
Ammo: 5.56mm
Ammo Capacity: 100
Attachment Slots: 1
Pistols in PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS are comparable to how they work in just about any first person shooter. They are a high risk low reward weapon that should only be used very early game before moving on to bigger and better weapons or as a last ditch effort if you happen to run out of ammo for your primary weapons.
P1911
The P1911 is a hard hitting pistol capable of downing a low armored opponent in only a few shots. It has more power than the P92 pistol but fires at a slower rate with half the magazine size.
Ammo: .45 ACP
Ammo Capacity: 7 stock, 12 extended
Attachment Slots: 2
P92
The definitive fire and forget weapon the P92 is the fastest pistol in the game. The P92 compromises power for sheer ammo capacity and you should have no trouble finding 9mm rounds wherever you go.
Ammo: .9mm
Ammo Capacity: 15 stock, 20 extended
Attachment Slots: 2
R1895
This revolver dishes out the most damage of any pistol in the game but fires and reloads incredibly slow. This gun is generally considered too high risk low reward to be used of any other gun in the game
and should only be picked up as a last ditch effort to stay alive.
Ammo: 7.62mm
Ammo Capacity: 7
Attachment Slots: 1
