Halo 4 Launch Trailer Gets the Hollywood Treatment

October 10, 2012 by Jeanine Celestin-Greer

Microsoft continues the tradition of dropping lots of dough on Halo trailers

According ComingSoon Microsoft is hiring director David Fincher known for Fight Club (and most recently The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) to executive produce Halo 4's launch trailer. Microsoft also hired acclaimed visual effects lead Tim Miller who worked on Scott Pilgrim vs the World and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to be the director.

The trailer will be two minutes and first appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on November 6. It will provide "a glimpse of new threat [Master Chief] will encounter in Halo 4." Of course, it will be live action, following in the tradition of previous trailers. It will also be filmed in Prague. The trailer will be available on Halo Waypoint and the Xbox YouTube channel immediately after the premiere.

"Halo is one of the most iconic sci-fi universes, with a depth that allows for amazingly cinematic and emotionally riveting stories. The chance to tell a story that explores never-before-seen facets of Master Chief's journey is an honor,” Fincher said. "Our goal is to deliver a blockbuster, Hollywood-quality trailer that raises the bar for the award-winning legacy of live-action 'Halo' storytelling and gets fans stoked for the return of Master Chief."
