With Dishonored's release just being a few days away, reviews will assuredly be popping online anytime soon. It seems CVG didn't receive the embargo memo as they published their review a tad early.
While the review article and video is now down, the "damage" has already been done. Mind you, there's not really any damage per se as the game did get a whopping 9.5 out of 10 from the website. What's more, CVG states it's Game of the Year (GOTY) material and that it was a "once in a generation game that rewards patience." That's some praise right there, no?
In related news, it seems a few people got their copies a tad early and some are stating that they finished Dishonored's main campaign in four hours. Given that the game has no multiplayer component at all, this is quite worrying. Of course, keep in mind that most people have said that the game takes around six to seven hours to complete and I gather that this chap who finished it in four hours might be doing a speedrun.
Arkane's Level Designer, Dan Todd, states that the game should keep you occupied for at least 20 hours and posts the following on the official Bethesda forums.
My ghost & no kills playthrough took 22 hours. That's without exploring every nook and cranny, and knowing the solution to everything beforehand. It should take more thorough / inexperienced players a bit longer than that.
So, chances are that Dishonored's length depends on the player itself, no? If you want to move stealthily — as the game was intended — the game will last for a significant amount of time. Also, regarding that four-hour mark, do keep in mind that games like Resident Evil 2 and the sort can be finished in the same timeframe. Just because a game can be finished in that time doesn't mean you will…unless you take all the enjoyment out of playing and rush through it.
How will you play Dishonored when it launches on October 9 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3?
Thanks, DSOGaming
