The original trailer for Grand Theft Auto 5 has a bit of music playing in the background as stuff happens on screen. It’s pretty, well worth watching, and gives us a good impression of what to expect in the game. But there’s a distinct lack of what makes the GTA titles as immersive as they are: the sound.
A newly made trailer of GTA 5 by Youtube user Auxeum aims to give us a more immersive experience by removing all of the music and adding sound effects and voices which correspond to the action happening on screen. The trailer’s a part of an on-going “trailers without music” meme on YouTube.
As one poster notes, the video “gives you a whole new perspective on the game,” and we’re inclined to agree. Granted, the game itself will never be as quiet as this edited trailer depicts, but it gives us a pretty good idea of what to look forward to.
Currently in development at Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto 5 is the fifth main title in the long-running series and is set to bring players back to Los Santos. Set in the present, the game is expected to have a much darker tone than its more lighthearted predecessors with themes that play into current events, like the state of the economy and the death of the American Dream.
Although Rockstar has not made any statements regarding the game’s platforms, GTA 5 is expected to see release on current generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in addition to the PC.
