What doesn't Steam sell, at this point? Games, movies.. it's likely that just about anything that is digital and related to games in some way will find itself on the storefront if it can viably be sold. So, it should surprise no one that today's update to Steam brings with it the ability to purchase software on the service. About time, really!
Specifically, the page states
"Unleash your creativity, test your rig, make some games, or just relax and create the best unicorns, sunsets and capital ships you can! These are just the first of many more titles to come."
Currently available are: GameMaker: Studio, 3D-Coat, ArtRage Studio Pro, 3DMark Vantage, 3DMark 11, CameraBag 2 and of course, Source Filmmaker.
GameMaker is free, and everything else seems reasonably affordable…with the exception of 3D-Coat, which is 89 dollars. Granted, everything has a 10% discount on the store right now–so if any of this software sounds of interest, now is the time! I wonder if software will ever go on sale?
