The Nintendo Switch is not even a week old yet and gamers are enjoying the latest portable hybrid console. Despite concern over the lack of a strong launch lineup in terms of video games, we can expect plenty of franchise installments in the future according to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.
Speaking to Katie Linendoll during a Facebook live stream, Reggie Fils-Aime discussed the development philosophy Nintendo has for each and every platform they release into the market. According to Reggie, Nintendo likes to see at least one installment from their entire classic franchises launch for their current system.
For instance, Super Smash Bros. has been a massively popular series since it first launched on the Nintendo 64. Since the series is monstrous in terms of popularity, it would come to a great surprise if the Nintendo Switch didn’t see a release at some point.
However, it’s nice knowing that we can expect a title according to Reggie as its one of their best-selling franchises to date. With that said, it’s unfortunate that we didn’t get any indication as to how long of a wait will have to endure before we are able to enjoy the latest Super Smash Bros. installment.
Likewise, there are other major franchise installments in the works that have yet to release on the Nintendo Switch but are confirmed to be in-development. These include Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Odyssey.
