A fan of Guild Wars 2 has put together a video of the game showcasing what it would look like in an FOV setting of 90. By default, the game has a native setting of 65, making it somewhat difficult to play for anyone on a widescreen monitor.
The creator of the video describes suffering from feelings of dizziness, nausea and headaches due to the game's default FOV and proposes a much higher setting–90, in this case–as an option for players to choose from. The FOV of 90 has long since been the standard for first-person and third-person games on the PC, and was included in Borderlands 2 as a much-requested feature.
As of now, tweaking the game to offer an FOV of 90 is an actual, bannable offense as ArenaNet does not allow for players to modify the game in any way whatsoever. The video maker has discovered a workaround by playing the game in a window and reducing its height to effectively force the game to display a wider FOV.
"If I ever were to be banned for making this game playable for me without feeling sick and dizzy, while having no advantage over other players (I could for all that I care, run the game on three monitors and have over 180 degrees of vision all around me, which is perfectly fine by ArenaNet)…I'll take the hammer with pride and stop playing," writes the video's creator.
