Few people have expressed any interest in the Wonderbook, but that doesn’t mean Sony isn’t intent on pushing it hard. The company announced today that they plan to release a bundle containing Wonderbook: Book of Spells with their latest iteration of the aging PlayStation 3, the PS3 Super Slim.
Wonderbook: Book of Spells is described as an interactive storybook for the PS3 that’s a part of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter universe. Players—or readers, as the case may be—who pick up the book can learn how to cast spells from the universe and interact with virtual environments. The interaction it provides is not unlike one of the old Putt Putt games, save for the fact that it’s all done with the Wonderbook peripheral and a PlayStation Eye camera.
The bundle is expected to launch across Europe and Australia on November 14, with the UK seeing it on November 15.
Interested buyers can pick up the book separately or in a bundle with the PS3 Super Slim, which comes in two flavors. The cheaper variety offers a 12gb flash drive while the premium bundle contains a 500gb drive and includes a PlayStation Eye camera and a PlayStation Move controller.
Expect book-burning fundamentalists to flip their lids over this one once they hear of how it’ll teach kids how to practice pretend witchcraft.
