GameSpot took Naughty Dog Community Strategist Arne Meyer on its stage to talk about The Last of Us at TGS. While the gameplay we see seems to be the E3, post-E3 and Gamescom trailers, now you can watch it while Meyer does a a running narrative of the game.
I admit, I've watched almost all of the game's trailers released so far, so even Meyer's interview doesn't really divulge any info that we don't know about. We already know Joel is protecting Ellie to travel to a supposed safe place, items can be mixed and match depending on what you want to create, and the game will have a "scavenge" mechanic for items, too.
However, after what Naughty Dog has accomplished with the Uncharted franchise, it's very hard not to get excited for The Last of Us. Yes, the zombie apocalypse premise isn't anything new, it uses third-person shooter mechanics, but darn it! I can't help but be giddy when I watch footage of the game.
Can Naughty Dog replicate their magic with The Last of Us? I certainly hope so, but we'll have to wait until next year to find out and the wait is a killer.
Are you liking The Last of Us so far? What do you think Naughty Dog should add to it to make it "beat" Uncharted?
