Koei Tecmo has put out the release trailer for their upcoming game, Dead or Alive 5, which is slated to hit stores next week on September 25 in the US, and on September 28 in Europe. The game will be released simultaneously on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Dead or Alive 5 is an upcoming fighting game in the long-running series, and is the first game to see release outside of the PlayStation since Dead or Alive Xtreme 2. It is the first game in the series to be developed without the input of series creator Tomonobu Itagaki.
Fights in Dead or Alive 5 are based on a “rock-paper-scissors” mechanic for interruption, in which strikes beat throws, throws beat holds, and holds beat strikes.
Described as a series reboot, the game will offer the same characters as the previous games, whose stories will be told from scratch. Additionally, it will also see the addition of characters from Sega’s Virtua Fighter series of fighting games.
