Star Wars: The Old Republic Brings Us a Terror From Beyond

September 13, 2012 by Kris Ligman

Bioware promising "major update" every six weeks for the misbegotten MMO, shows off a fancier way to debug a computer.

Ah, poor Star Wars: The Old Republic. I actually want to play you, but you dropped during such a complicated time in my life. Unfortunately, I don’t seem to have been the only one.

More fortunately, Bioware Austin have vowed that they are never going to give SWTOR up, never going to let it down, and in fact are promising strong new content on a regular six-week schedule. The upcoming 1.4 update is an effort to make good on this promise, as it gives players the new mission “Terror From Beyond,” in which Bioware demonstrates how to really debug a computer (spoiler: it happens by killing things).

“Terror From Beyond” also gives us the “hypergate,” which is what we in the writing trade might call a “silly plot device that exists solely to dump a bunch of monsters on the heroes.” Well, if it works, it works.

You can check out the Developer Dispatch showcasing “Terror From Beyond” below. Thanks, Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
