In a AMA with Reddit, Super Hexagon creator Terry Cavanagh talked shop regarding his latest devilishly difficult release. Lots of good info is revealed, like for instance:
- Yes, all those leaderboard scores that show Cavanagh as number one are real. Completely real, despite what Hookshot may say. Which makes sense, really, considering he's been playing it for months…and he made the damn game! Still, it's surprising that no snot-faced kid has one upped him immediately, because that's what usually happens with this sort of thing. Maybe we just need to give it a few days.
- He thinks Steam Greenlight is bullshit, because it benefits the popular games only. Good, we didn't need to add another great developer to the "classist asshole" list.
- Straight up quote, "It's sold about 10,000 copies in three days, and has been in the top 25 on the iPhone charts. I didn't see that coming at all – I'd really gone into this expecting the game to be a super niche thing that only a tiny handful of iPhone gamers would be interested in, and I'm really glad to be proven wrong."
- Terry hopes to bring the game to other platforms, like PC/Mac and Android–fantastic, because everyone should play what will likely be on everyone's shortlist for GOTY.
Those are probably the juiciest bits, but if you're interested in scouring all of Terry's answers, check the Reddit thread here.
