Those who pre-order XCOM: Enemy Unknown now can also unlock special rewards, including “the Elite Soldier pack, 3 Exclusive XCOM TF2 items, and Civilization V,” announces a Steam news update.
While XCOM: Enemy Unknown doesn’t release until October 9, Steam’s Store Page for the game explains that as more people purchase the $49.99 pre-order, new reward packs (there are three in all) will become available. Demonstrating this with a metric right below the Add to Cart button, the page shows that the promotion has reached 36 percent of the first stage, which, it appears, unlocks Reward 1. As soon as Reward 2 is unlocked purchasers may receive items from that pack as well as what’s in Reward 1, and the same holds true for Reward 3—meaning those looking forward to XCOM: Enemy Unknown should get a head start if they want to give themselves the best chance of unlocking all the possible rewards.
The game itself places the player “in control of a secret paramilitary organization called XCOM.”
“As the XCOM commander, you will defend against a terrifying global alien invasion by managing resources, advancing technologies, and overseeing combat strategies and individual unit tactics.”
Videos and screens for the game are also available on Steam’s Store Page.
