Halo 5 Player Recreates Map of Rainbow Road From Super Mario Kart

January 26, 2017 by Katrina Filippidis

Halo Road.

The iconic Rainbow Road track from Super Mario Kart for the SNES has been re-imagined for Halo 5: Guardians by user xXBarthXx. The map can be raced on, supports up to 10 players and maintains all the frighteningly sharp turns, thwomps and ill-placed gaps of the original.

YouTube user Forge Labs give the map a playthrough in the above video. Unlike the original track, when players fall off the fan-made ‘Halo Road’ they need to respawn, the thwomps lack faces, and Lakitu has been transformed into a grunt. I’m not sure how he’d feel about that.

Rainbow Road isn’t the first fan-made map to feature in Halo 5, with Star Trek TNG’s Enterprise-D getting a Halo makeover late last year. Microsoft recently announced that Halo 5’s Mythic Warzone Firefight (played on the Escape from A.R.C map) would be returning with even higher RP rewards.

Interested in giving Halo Road a go? You can download the map here.
